Important Update from MAR - Due to a mail house er= ror, the mailed notifications for online voting for the 2010 slate of MAR O= fficers & Directors were sent to all REALTOR members without the login and = passwords needed to cast your vote. When the mail house merged the letters,= they inadvertently omitted this vital information. The mail house is immed= iately correcting their error. New notifications containing the needed indi= vidual login and password information will be mailed out immediately with p= rominent wording in red on the outside of the envelope explaining the situa= tion. Members will receive them in plenty of time to vote in this important= election.

New "Reg. Z" Became Effective July 30: Deals = Could Slow=20
 
New Truth in Lendin= g Act (TILA) federal disclosure rules for lenders that took effect July 30, could make closing= s take longer as a result. The changes to "Reg. Z" add b= orrower review periods and require lenders to notify borrowers of any annua= l percentage rate (APR) changes of more than 0.125 percent. Borrowers then = get an additional review period. HVCC: Let Appraisers Know of Errors, FHFA Say= s=20
 
Communication with apprai= sers about errors, missing information, and unprofessional conduct are all = permissible under the new home valuation code of conduct (HVCC),&n= bsp;the Federal Housing Finance Agency makes clear in a notice released last week. Secondary mo= rtgage market companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac updated HVCC FAQs to clarify similar points. These clarifications are hel= pful, but more is needed to ensure sales aren't unnecessarily harmed by HVC= C, NAR President Charles McMillan says.  NAR continues to = call for an 18-month moratorium on HVCC, which took effect May 1 with the i= ntention of curbing inaccurate appraisals.
