The Hattiesburg Area Association of Realtors was formed as a Non-Profit, Non-Share Corporation in on October 26, 1959 under the name 'The Hattiesburg Board of Realtors'.  On February 16, 1995, the name was changed to 'The Hattiesburg Area Association of Realtors' by unanimous vote of the members.  On December 11, 2003, a subsidiary, the Realtors' Multiple Listing Service merged with the Hattiesburg Area Association of Realtors, it's parent organization.
